Custom Luxury Staircases — Toronto & the GTA

Bespoke staircases, hand-forged for homes with exacting detail. One-of-one, always.

MATERIALS & FINISHES

Every staircase is composed of materials chosen to age gracefully — solid, sourced, and worked by hand.

Material Description

WALNUT

wood

A deeply grained hardwood with rich chocolate undertones. Walnut ages to a warm amber patina and takes oil finishes beautifully. Our treads are quarter-sawn from North American stock for dimensional stability and a subtle ray-fleck figure that catches light.

Finish Study

TESTIMONIALS

We were nervous about making the stair the focal point of the house, but it ended up tying the whole renovation together. The detailing, the fit, and even the install process felt very considered from start to finish.

THE ATELIER

One of one — always

Supreme Modern Stairs is a small studio by choice. Every staircase passes through the same pair of hands at design, forge, and install.

We take on a limited number of commissions at a time, so each project gets the attention a centrepiece deserves — from the first sketch to the final fitting.

We work in brass, bronze, hardwood, stone, and glass — the materials that age into something better. We do not use veneer, laminate, or composite.

Our work lives in private residences shaped around careful details, measured pacing, and a close relationship between designer, fabricator, and installer.

Based in Toronto, we design and install across the GTA — Mississauga, Oakville, Vaughan, Markham, and Richmond Hill. Every commission is by appointment and begins with a complimentary in-home site visit.

QUESTIONS

How much does a custom staircase cost in Toronto?
Projects start from $10,000. The final figure depends on geometry, span, and materials — a straight run in oak sits at the accessible end; a helical centrepiece in marble and brass at the other. You will have a firm, itemized quote after the complimentary in-home consultation, and the design is refined free of charge until you approve it.
How long does a custom staircase take?
Six to ten weeks from first consultation to finished staircase. Design and in-house fabrication take up most of that window; the on-site installation itself is the shortest part — most installs complete in three to seven days.
What does the process look like?
Four stages, one studio. Consult: a complimentary in-home visit and measurements, no obligation. Design: hand drawings first, then a 3D model — changes are free until you approve. Forge: materials are selected and every joint is cut in our own workshop. Install: our own crew fits the staircase, typically in three to seven days.
Which areas do you serve?
Toronto and the GTA — including Mississauga, Oakville, Vaughan, Markham, and Richmond Hill. We work by appointment and come to you; every commission begins with an in-home site visit.
Are you insured?
Fully insured and WSIB covered. Every staircase we build carries a one-year workmanship warranty.
Do I need a permit to replace a staircase in Toronto?
Structurally altering or replacing a staircase in Ontario usually requires a building permit, and requirements vary by municipality. We flag what applies to your project during the consultation so there are no surprises.
What materials do you work in?
Our core palette: walnut, white oak, Honduran mahogany, solid brass, blackened steel, stainless steel, low-iron glass, Calacatta marble, Roman travertine, polished concrete, saddle leather, and patinated bronze — plus hand-forged wrought iron where the design calls for it. We do not use veneer, laminate, or composite.
